Why We Do What We Do

According to the U.S. Center for Medicare, the demand for dental services is predicted to increase in the United States from $87 billion in 2005 to $167 billion by 2015.  The ability for dentists to work with qualified dental laboratories located domestically has never been more paramount to good patient care.

It is for this reason that Knight constantly researches the latest technology; offers you products for every type of patient; and goes above the quality manufacturing processes required by our Certified Dental Laboratory (CDL) and Dental Appliance Manufacturers Auditing System (DAMAS) certifications.

The last step is keeping you updated and informed through important communications such as this e-newsletter.  We thank you for taking the time to read about what Knight is working on, and for your continued business!

WORKING TOWARDS ANOTHER AACD ACCREDITATION
Lonnie Lee, CDT and Rachelle Boudreau, DDS Begin AACD Process

This month, Lonnie Lee, CDT, Director of Professional Relations for Knight Dental Group, and long-time Knight client Rachelle Boudreau, DDS, received word that they successfully passed their first two cases towards AACD Accreditation.

Together, they created and submitted restorations under the

Type I category (six or more indirect restorations) and Type II category (one or two indirect restorations).

There are only 331 dental professionals worldwide who have achieved the prestigious AAACD honor, having reached this achievement after completing a rigorous credentialing process including a written examination, oral examination, and the submission of clinical cases for peer-reviewed evaluation.

To complete the process, Lonnie must successfully submit one more case and Dr. Boudreau must pass 3 more cases before both can participate in the final step, the oral exam.

Knight is proud to participate in this process with Dr. Rachelle Boudreau.  If you are interested in the AACD Accreditation process and are looking for some assistance, please contact Knight Dental Group today at (800) 359-2043.

KNIGHT VP RECOGNIZED AS TOP 25 IN DENTISTRY

Barbara Warner Wojdan, CDT, AAACD To Receive Special Honor

This fall, Barbara Warner Wojdan, CDT, AAACD will be recognized by Dental Products Report as one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry for 2011.
As the number of women in the industry continues to grow, Dental Products Reportwanted to develop an award that recognizes them for their many contributions. Last year, the publication received more than 200 outstanding nominations among the five categories: dentists, team members, dental lab, research and education, and industry.

The winners were chosen based on the number of people who nominated them, the quality of those nominations, the ability to demonstrate a clear contribution to the dental community and the diversity their story would bring to the category. In this honor, Barb joins the ranks of such women as the head of a large international company, a former AACD president and other true industry leaders.

TECHNICAL TIP

Time and Cost Savings Through Technology

Dental MillsRecently, Knight announced the purchase of two additional commercial grade, 4-axis CAD/CAM milling units. These mills help combat the increasing costs of precious metal by allowing for a more accurate thickness of copings. Additionally, their accuracy and production capability allow for a shorter turnaround time.

When we started this project, our objectives were to better meet our clients' needs through improving turn-around times by 1 to 2 days, and reducing the weight of precious metal through accuracy.

How does this happen?  First, our model work is scanned digitally; next both the coping and full contour restorations are then digitally designed by our Milling Center technicians.  This allows us to identify the margin virtually.  In addition to greater accuracy, you will no longer see the margin marker line when you receive the model work with the case in the near future.

We are excited that this project has nearly reached beta test completion, and you will start seeing the rewards of these efforts.
